ASPECTS REGARDING THE INTEGRATION OF THE MODERN INFORMATION SYSTEMS

    Get PDF
Developing an information system integration strategy, at enterprise level is one of the most difficult issues that the information systems managers must solve, within the present conditions. When settling the integration strategy, two aspects must mainly be taken into account: assuring a complete integration solution of the information systems and building an integration infrastructure of the applications. The present paper aims at presenting few aspects regarding the integration of the information systems at organizational level and describing a specifically developed IBM architecture.information systems integration, software modelling, Model Driven Architecture (MDA), Model Driven Development (MDD)

This paper presents activities of Microsoft Innovation Center set inside of Romanian-American University (MIC-RAU) and the implementation of Dynamics Program in student activities and curricula. Romanian-American University is the most known private university from Romania, Bucharest, having more the 15 000 student, being organized in six faculties, where fifth has economic profile and one being specialized in law. In this case the challenges of Dynamics Programs implementation was to elaborate courses suitable for various groups of student with different background, but in the same time to keep the core knowledge needed to understand and operate with Microsoft Dynamics products. The learning process was completed with practice experience in internships organized in collaboration with Microsoft Partner network from Bucharest. The last stage of Dynamics implementation consists in a series of researches made by graduate students on Master program, in their Dissertation Thesis.innovation management, information systems, R&D management, knowledge management.

The need of faster insertion of graduates into labor market and enhancing professional and soft skills of graduates required by employees, conduct to new learning method necessity. Starting from stated foreseen of Europe 2020 strategy, creativity, entrepreneurship and intensive use of ICT should be enhanced soon to all academic levels. Also, the entrepreneurs require that graduates to have strong organizational knowledge, to quickly integrate into company’ business processes. The traditional assessment of students implies an individual form, team assessment being avoided to be sure of each individual contribution. Also, the future Industry 4.0 implementations will ask for interdisciplinary skills regarding ICT use and specific digital workflows. The proposed enterprise environment replication uses ERP as backbone of IT infrastructure and Office 365 as business workflow tool management. The experience in using ERP as laboratory IT infrastructure for multiple subjects of academic curriculum of the same academic program showed that graduates could focus on internal business process and documents flow rather than learning how to use the software. The Office 365 is used to experience internal workflow of companies, implemented on existent tenants. To enhance the entrepreneurship and innovation, the learning method is completed with simulated enterprise specific activities

A Validation Model for Ethical Decisions in Artificial Intelligence Systems using Personal Data

    Get PDF
Decision making, a fundamental human process, has been more and more supported by computer systems in the second part of the last century. In the 21st century, intelligent decision support systems utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to enhance and improve support for decision makers. Often decisions suggested by an AI system are based on personal data, such as credit scoring in financial institutions or purchase behavior in online shops and the like. Beyond the protection or personal data by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), developers and operators of decisional AI systems need to ensure ethical standards are met. In respect to individuals, arguably the most relevant ethical aspect is the fairness principle, to ensure individuals are treated fairly. In this paper we present an evaluation model for decision ethicality of AI systems in respect to the fairness principle. The presented model treats any AI system as a “black-box”. It separates sensitive from general attributes in the input matrix. The model measures the distance between predicted values on altering inputs for sensitive attributes. The variance of the outputs is interpreted as individual fairness, that is treating similar individuals similarly. In addition, the model also informs about the group fairness. The validation model helps to determine to what extent an AI System, decides fairly in general for individuals and groups, thus can be used as a test tool in development and operation of AI Systems using personal data

Smart City Platform Development for an Automated Waste Collection System

    No full text
Nowadays, governments and companies are looking for solutions to increase the collection level of various waste types by using new technologies and devices such as smart sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud platforms etc. In order to fulfil this need, this paper presents solutions provided by a research project involving the design, development and implementation of fully automated waste collection systems with an increased usage degree, productivity and storage capacity. The paper will focus on the main results of this research project in turning the automated waste collection system into a smart system so that it can be easily integrated in any smart city infrastructure. For this purpose, the Internet of Things platform for the automated waste collection system provided by the project will allow real time monitoring and communication with central systems. Details about each module are sent to the central systems: various modules’ statuses (working, blocked, needs repairs or maintenance etc.); equipment status; storage systems status (allowing full reports for all waste types); the amount of waste for each module, allowing optimal discharging; route optimization for waste discharging etc. To do that, we describe here an IoT cloud solution integrating device connection, data processing, analytics and management
